The TV sense of smell is added to your every day TV set. 

The TV Sense of Smell: With Sniffer Star Technology we make TV sets that can smell your environment or release smells for the programme you are watching. This is done by putting the sniffer star tool in your TV connected to a box with elements that mix in solution.

The procedure is simple, the programme image is detected by the in built computer and sent to the sniffer star, the sniffer star picks the smell then relays it to the box, the box then selects the element to be immersed in a particular solution that produces the smell.
